The problem starts here.
Yes, it's so great that Disney's going to make a fourth installment of the much-loved movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean. But the thing is, the new studio chairperson has cut more than one-third of their budget for the filming. This means, we'll be most likely to expect disappointments from the installment entitled On Stranger Tides.
Here are some of the changes we will see probably by next year:
*** Johnny Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow. (that's a given since the movie will be meaningless without him)
*** Penelope Cruz will be seen as the love interest/leading lady of JDepp in this fourth installment.
*** Because of the huge budget cut, the filming location will not be on the Caribbean shores anymore. Instead, it will just be in the cheaper places of Hawaii and London. (so much for authenticity of the title itself, Pirates of the "Caribbean")
*** Majority of the big-named stars from the previous series will not return for the fourth installment. This long list includes Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. (this is so sad. I hope it would not be boring without the cast we used to see from the start of the series)
*** The person who is best known for directing Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Gore Verbinski, will not be the director for the fourth installment.
*** Instead, Rob Marshall will be the director for POTC: On Stranger Tides. He is known for directing Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha, and Nine. (I hope POTC4 will not turn out bad now that the person handling the acting aspect is not commonly known for directing action-packed films)
These things are not even half of what we would see when the finished product comes out. Personally, I felt disappointed. With the fact that the fourth installment had their budget trimmed down, I don't think it would turn out better than the first three. But still, I am hoping for the best. I am a Pirates of the Caribbean fan after all!
