As a huge fan of the author (Joanne Kathleen Rowling), the 7 books, and the 8 movies, I am one of those who are emotionally affected of this last hurrah.
If there is one person who I want to thank for introducing magic into my life, it would be my father. He gave me my ticket to the wizarding world -- The Chamber of Secrets book! (I had The Chamber of Secrets first before The Sorcerer’s Stone).
I started reading the books since I was in elementary. The story and the pacing got me hooked right from the start. The characters were all amazing. I became an instant fan. Years passed by and looked forward for the next books.
The movies started to come out when I was already in high school. My addiction was getting extreme. During the time when we had a project in English about the biography of authors, I was lucky enough to be able to handpick J.K. Rowling. I enjoyed learning things about her and how she was able to give life to the entire “Harry Potter” concept. I presented it in class complete with wizard costume, makeshift wand, and an original Harry Potter glasses from the official merchandise.
The anticipation for the books and movies continued in college. It was during The Order of the Phoenix screening when my college friends (who were also Harry Potter fanatics) and I imagined what it would be like if the other movies come out after graduation. One said we would be taking our kids with us in the cinemas. The other said we would be professionals by then.
Years passed and more movies were shown. But here we are, all emotional about this last movie. Our imagination in college failed us because we are still struggling in life up to now.
Kidding aside, I am really sad about this. Looking back at the memories from being a simple “childhood bookworm” addiction to feeling amazed at the physical changes of the cast of the movies through the years, I am grieving so much about the end of something special that has been a huge part of my life.
To end this tribute, below is something that has been circulating in blogs. It will certainly touch the hearts of all Harry Potter followers. Tears will fall, smiles will form. This is it.
IT ALL ENDS.
